For me, Bloom Search has been a learning curve of acronyms and bots. The terms AI, RPA, NLP, Machine Learning, IOT were letters on a job description, and I had no idea that a C# was pronounced “C Sharp” and not “C Hashtag” which is what I originally thought – maybe due to too much time on social media...?
I’ve never been a natural techy. I was more of a tech “voyeur”; watching from the fringe both intrigued and alarmed by numerous articles that simply read, “The Rise of The Bots” and statistics stating that,”20% of UK jobs at risk of automation” (Centre for Cities think tank) and that “robot automation will take 800 million jobs by 2030 (McKinsey Global Institute).
My background in recruitment comes from working for one of the leaders in Office recruitment, including HR, Marketing, PA and EA, Receptionists and Administrator roles. Anyone within this area would know that the market share for recruitment business in this space is ever shrinking, (due to a number of factors) but that the advancement of technology, most notably AI and Automation, presents a significant risk.
My natural inquisitive nature led me to where I am now, I wanted to combine my love for the day job (recruitment) with my passion for learning, which led me to work within spaces that are at the forefront of the tech revolution. A revolution that will change the face of the work environment for years to come.
During my first 2 months at Bloom Search, I have successfully placed a Senior Partner Director and Senior RPA Sales Engineer’s into one of the leading RPA vendors and have secured a global Preferred Supplier Agreement with one of the largest HR and Payroll providers, to support them in enabling their RPA, Intelligent Automation and AI journey and build their centre of excellence.
I can’t say what the next 2, 6 or 18 months will hold but what I do know is that I am working for a true “specialist” in the market. I am excited to be a part of the emerging tech space, and I can’t wait to continue learning from both the experts around me and those I meet along the way.
